Martha E. Compton & Enoch Rainwater

Enoch Rainwater and wife, Martha E. Compton

Enoch Rainwater was born on May 25, 1836 to James Rainwater and his wife, Mary "Polly" McDaniel in Pulaski Co., KY. He was the 4th of their 10 children and one of the executors of his father’s estate. In 1852 he married Martha E. Compton, daughter of Micajah Compton and Margaret Rexroat. The couple brought into the world 11 children who lived to adulthood. These were Paralee, Mary E., Amanda E., Adliza E., William H., Silas M., Caldonia, Virgil M., Carl B., and twins, Ada R. and Teresa.

Enoch made his living as a farmer and lived in Pulaski Co. all of his life. Martha Compton Rainwater died in 1898, and was Enoch took a second wife, Mary E. Roy, in 1903. This marriage lasted only three years - Enoch died in 1906. He and his first wife are buried in New Hope Cemetery in Pulaski Co.
